Look, we can’t all be good at everything. For instance, I suck at math. I didn’t become a meteorologist because of math. I didn’t become a fashion designer because of math.
Maybe you’re awesome at math. But you know what I’m really good at? Writing. And also editing, because I’m really good at writing.
To be honest, everyone’s known since I was 5 that I was going to be a writer. (In fact, my mom still has my kindergarten teacher’s note to that effect.) I tried to fight my destiny a few times (see above), but it was no good. At last, with some grumbling (but storm chasing!) I came to accept my fate and put up my shingle as a pro.
With 20+ years of experience as a freelance writer and editor, I’ve had a hell of a lot of practice at this point. And the number one thing my clients tell me is something like, “I have no idea how you did it, but it’s like magic. I didn’t know I could sound so good! And now it says exactly what I was trying to say.”
I love to write, but if you don’t or you feel intimidated by the art, I’m your Huckleberry. Just gimme a jingle and we’ll get going. Fear not—relief is at hand!
